Ragi also known as finger millet is one the healthy millet which can be used by all age group people.This steamed cake makes an excellent and filling breakfast which can be had as such or with sugar and banana.Ragi is a great source of calcium .

Ingredients
  

  • Ragi flour-1 cup
  • Grated coconut- 1 cup
  • salt-12 tsp
  • water-as needed

  • Dry roast the ragi flour for a while.
  • Take ragi flour and salt in a bowl.Slowly add water make it look somewhat like bread crumbs.When pressed it should hold its shape and it should easily break also.that's the correct stage.

  • To the puttu maker first add grated coconut, then the prepared flour,and so on and lastly end with grated coconut.

  • Steam it well by placing above the lower compartment of the puttu maker which is filled with water. When done serve hot with sugar,or sugar & banana. You can also have it as such.

Notes

  • Don’t add water all it once,just sprinkle little by little and make the flour .
  • If you don’t have puttu maker,keep the prepared flour in a cloth,tie and steam it in an idli cooker/pan.
