Beguni is the delicious pakodas from Kolkata, made with brinjal. Slices of egg plant or brinjal dipped in a Besan batter, deep fried.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Brinjal
  • 1/2 cup Besan
  • 2 tsp Poppy seeds
  • 1 tsp Nigella seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Red chilly powder
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • Salt
  • 1 pinch Cooking soda
  • Refined oil

Instructions
 

  • Slice the brinjal into thin slices. Keep aside.
  • Make a batter using rest of the ingredients except the oil.
  • Heat oil in a kadhai. Dip the brinjal slices in the batter and deep fry the brinjal.
  • Serve with some chaat masala powder sprinkled on top.
