Potato Rosti

One day my mom - in -law came and she asked me to make something different and the very first thought came to my mind was to make something which is total unique and tasty also!! So tried to make "Rosti"!!
A potato dish originating from Switzerland that is traditionally made with boiled potatoes that are grated and fried. This dish can be made with either cooked or raw potatoes.

  • 2 potatoes raw, big sized
  • 2 Onions medium sized, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp Oregano flakes
  • Chili flakes as per your taste
  • Salt as per your taste
  • Mozzarella cheese half cup (grated)
  • 30 gm Salted Butter


  • Take the potatoes peel them and grate them with a grater.(Do not squeeze the water)Add chopped onions. Now add salt, oregano, chili flakes and mix it well.

  • Now take a flat pan add butter on it. Spread the grated potatoes on the pan and press it gently now add more butter on the top and in the center of the rosti. Check it with the help of a knife that it should be properly cooked in little brown golden.
  • Then go for a flip. Add more butter if needed. With the help of a flat spatula press it gently again. When both the sides turns crispy ,then switch off the flame.

  • Start the plating by spreading mozzarella cheese ,now fold it and cut it into pieces. Enjoy your Swiss Dish at your place.
