Kaddu [Pumpkin] Shakarkand [Sweet Potato] Halwa

  • pumpkin [ peeled and grated ] - 1 cup
  • sweet potatoes [ peeled and grated] - 1 cup
  • khoya or condensed milk - 3/4 cup
  • saffron [ soaked in 2 tbs milk] - few strands
  • sugar - 1 cup [if using khoya] reduce the half quantity if using condensed milk
  • assorted dry fruits chopped - for garnishing
  • ghee - 3 tbs


  • heat ghee in a non stick pan
  • add peeled and grated pumpkin and sweet potatoes
  • stir fry for 10 -15 minutes
  • add khoya or condensed milk and keep cooking on medium flame for 15 minutes
  • add sugar and cook till it dissolve properly
  • add saffron and mix nicely for another couple of minutes
  • serve hot garnished with dry fruits
