Lotus stem with moong dal. Sometimes we can also consume lotus stems. It is good for thyroid and skin care. Control blood pressure, helps curing infections and allergies.
It's also helps reducing mental stress. Lotus stem are delicious but it is tough to clean properly.

Ingredients
  

  • 250 gm lotus stems
  • 1 cup moong dal boiled
  • 1 tomato chopped
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seed
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • ½ teaspoon garam masala
  • ¼ teaspoon shahi garam masala
  • 1 tbsp mustard oil
  • Green chilies
  • Coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste

Instructions
 

  • Wash thoroughly the stems, make sure stem are cleaned. Then peel off the skins and chop with slicers to visible the cleaning.

  • Then dip in water for 10 minutes. Wash again under the running water.

  • Now boil the stems then drain the excess water and cook.
  • In other side wash roasted moong dal then boil.
  • Take a bowl mix cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and chili powder. Make a paste adding little water.
  • Heat oil in a pan add cumin seeds. Let spark then add tomato slices.

  • Sauté and add mixed masala, salt and garam masala.
  • Add boiled stems, mix together and again sauté. Sprinkle little water and cook.

  • Add green peas and green chillies.

  • Now add boiled moong dal and cook. Add shahi garam masala homemade clarified butter.

  • Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with steamed rice/ roti/ paratha.
