Instant Rice Dhokla (Steamed Rice Cakes)

Instant rice flour dhokla can be whipped up quickly when you dont want to go through the lengthy process of making it. It is a nutritious snack for kids too.

Ingredients
  

  • Rice flour - 1 cup
  • Maida - 2 tsp
  • Sooji - 2 tbsp
  • Green chillies - 2
  • Salt
  • Pasta seasoning - 1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  • Juice of one lemon
  • Cooking soda - 1 tsp
  • Oil to grease the dhokla plates
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tsp
  • Hing - a pinch
  • Curd - 1/2 cup
  • Red chilli powder as required

  • Mix the rice flour, maida and sooji. Add salt, cumin seeds, cut green chillies and pasta seasoning. Add the curd and a little water to make a medium consistency batter. Let it soak for 1 hour.
  • After 1 hour, add the lemon juice and cooking soda and mix well.
  • Now grease the dhokla plates with oil and pour the batter into individual plates. Steam for 15 minutes.
  • Heat oil in a kadhai and add mustard seeds, sesame seeds and hing. Once they splutter, pour it on the steamed dhokla. If you want it spicy, you can sprinkle red chilli powder on top. Enjoy with tomato ketchup.
