Masala Vadai also known as Paruppu Vadai is a South Indian style street food and one of the most popular spiced snacks. It is made with chana dal and some simple basic ingredients easily available in your kitchen.

Chana Dal - 1 cup
Sooji - 1 tbsp
Onion - 1 medium chopped finely
Green Chilli - 2 chopped finely
Salt to taste
Oil for deep frying - 1 cup
Fennel Seeds - 1 tblsp
Garlic - 6 cloves
Soak the chana dal and keep aside for atleast 1 hour.
Coarsely grind the ginger, garlic and fennel seeds without adding water. Keep aside.
Now take the channa dal and blend it coarsely. Please remember not to make it into a fine paste.
Heat oil in a frying pan. Take small portion of the mixture and make small ball and then flatten it. Continue the same process with the remaining mixture.
Drop the Vadas in batches and fry them in medium heat till golden brown.
Drain and Serve as it is or with any chutney of your choice.
