Recipe Notes

Additional Tips

  • For an extra creamy texture, replace half of the milk with heavy cream or evaporated milk, which complements the custard flavor beautifully.
  • If you prefer a crispier exterior, let the waffle batter rest for 10-15 minutes before cooking to allow the flour to fully hydrate and the leavening agents to activate.
  • Try folding in small chunks of ripe banana or diced strawberries into the batter for a fruity twist that pairs well with the custard notes.
  • Leftover waffles freeze well—cool completely, then wrap individually and store in a zip-top bag. Reheat in a toaster for a quick treat that stays crisp on the outside.
