  • Wash and slit the large gooseberries into four with sharp knife. Gently remove the pieces of amla and discard the seeds.
  • Place the chopped amla into a blender and add mint leaves. Pour in some water just enough to make a smooth puree.
  • Strain this mixture using a sieve, pressing gently to remove as much juice as possible. Add more water to the pulp and blend again; strain.
  • Stir in more water to the strained mixture to make 2 large cups or glasses. Season with black salt/kala namak and pepper powder. Serve at room temperature or chilled.

Recipe Notes

  • When you have surplus of amlas, chop them and freeze in ziplock bags to enjoy this fruit all year long!!
