Ingredients
 

For the Amla Juice

  • 6 medium Indian Gooseberries also known as nellikai. deseeded., amla
  • 1 inch Ginger peeled and grated
  • 1 tsp Salt adjust to taste
  • 2 cup Water more may be needed for desired consistency
  • 2-3 tbsp Honey or to taste; can substitute with sugar

Instructions
 

Prepare the Ingredients

  • Wash and deseed the Indian gooseberries. Peel and grate the ginger.

Blend the Amla Mixture

  • In a blender, combine the deseeded amla, grated ginger, salt, and honey (or sugar). Blend for 30 seconds.

Add Water and Blend Again

  • Add 1 cup of water to the blender. Blend until completely smooth. Add more water if needed to reach your desired consistency.

Strain and Serve

  • Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a pitcher. Add the remaining 1 cup of water to the pulp and strain again to extract the maximum juice. Stir well.

Serve Chilled

  • Serve immediately over ice. Garnish with a small piece of ginger if desired.

  • For a smoother juice, remove the amla skin before blending. You can optionally leave the skins on for a slightly thicker and more fibrous juice.
