Hyderabadi Qubaani Ka Meetha
Quintessentially Hyderabadi. You will just go ga ga over this rich creamy satin smooth dessert. It tops the menu list of any wedding ceremony in Hyderabad. Therefore this is the name given by me to this awesome beauty from my beloved State.
Just perfect for any occasion that oozes love and warmth. It adorns every table on occasions like weddings, Special occasions like Eid and even family get togethers.
The colour itself looks so regal that it perfectly compliments the Nawabi tradition that largely influences the Hyderabadi Cuisine. A traditional dish that occupies a permanent place in every food lover's heart and food enthusiasts.
A dessert that is so very uniquely Nawabi and a permanent feature at every Muslim wedding in the City practically is whipped up with just 4 main ingredients in all. Happy Whipping It Up Friends!

  • Do not throw away the water in which the apricots were soaked. Also keep aside the almonds that we get after deseeding them. Meanwhile make a one string consistency sugar syrup on a medium high heat and set aside.
  • Keep stirring the apricots in the pot every now and then and as soon as the water dries up to a large extent and has a nice sheen and gloss and get soft and tender, stir in the sugar syrup with the cardamom powder.
  • Mix well and do not forget to add the lemon juice to it. This gives a lovely flavour to the dessert. Soak the almonds in hot water for a few minutes before peeling their skin off.
  • Serve it warm or chilled with lots of fresh cream and the almonds that give it a real gorgeous look.

Notes

Adding lemon juice to it is my grand mom’s idea and it does give this dessert a lovely flavour. Sugar an ofcourse be used according to one’s own choice and preference. Making a syrup of it is important to give this dessert a nice sheen and gloss.
