A moist and decadent chocolate bread made healthier by adding a generous amount of shredded zucchini & apple, this can be eaten as a snack, for breakfast or even dessert. Topped with chocolate chips, this zucchini chocolate bread is every bit as delicious as it is healthy

Ingredients
- 1 cup Flour i used a combo of all-purpose and whole-wheat flours half & half
- 1/2 cup Applesauce
- 2 tbsp Cocoa Powder
- 1 cup Zucchini finely grated
- 1 cup Apple grated
- 1/3 cup Chocolate Chips
- 1/2 cup Vegetable Oil
- 1 tsp Baking Powder
- 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
- 1 tsp Vanilla Essence
- 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp Salt or as per taste
- 3/4 cup Sugar
- 1/2 cup Yogurt

- How to make applesauce: Peel & chop apples finely. In a deep pan add water. Throw in apple pieces. Add some sugar. Cook on low heat by covering it for about 7-8 minutes. Mash it. Keep aside.
- Preheat oven to 180º C for 10 minutes. Beat Sugar, oil and yogurt in a mixer at low speed until well blended. Stir in applesauce. Blend it again.
- Combine flours, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon & salt stirring with a whisk. Now add the flour mixture to sugar mixture, beating just until moist. Stir in the grated zucchini & apples and chocolate chips.
- Grease & dust some flour in to baking loaf tin. Spoon the batter into loaf tin. Sprinkle some more chocolate chips on top. Bake at 180º C for 40 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out almost clean.
- Cool the cake for 10 minutes on a wire rack. Cut into slices. Serve warm.
- Store in an airtight container when completely cooled. Serve bread slices warm or cold with a cup of milk, coffee or tea.
Recipe Notes
This quick bread is great to pack and take while traveling.
If the bread is not done after 50 minutes and you see that the top is rapidly browning, loosely tent the pan with foil and continue to bake till done.
You can bake the batter as cupcakes/muffins too. Check for doneness around 15-18 minutes.
