Tavsali is traditional recipe from goa. it is very unique cake made with yellow cucumber but we can make this cake with green cucumber too. It is a steamed cake and very nutricious in summer days . Ingredients
- half cup rava / sooji
- one cup grated cucumber
- 1/4 cup fresh coconut grated or dry coconut powder
- half cup powdered jaggery
- 2 tsp green cardamom powder
- 6-7 almonds finely chopped
- some oil / clarified butter for greasing

Instructions
- First dry roast rava for about 5-6 minutes in low flame .
- Now in a big bowl take all dry ingredients as roasted rava , jaggery powder,cardamom powder , dry coconut powder .Mix all ingredients well .
- Now take grated green cucumber.
- Add this grated cucumber and chopped almonds to dry ingredients and mix well .
- Don't add any milk or liquid , cucumber water is sufficient for batter . Batter should be not very thick or thin.
- Now grease the cake tin with oil and pour cake batter . Now steam it in steamer for about 15- 20 minutes .
- Turn of the gas burner and let cool down the cake .Tavsali is ready .
- When compeletly cool down then cut into small pieces and garnish with chopped almonds . Enjoy tavsali.
Notes
in original recipe they use fresh coconut and yellow cucumber . In US i didnt find yellow one so i have used green but it equally tastes good . i have used dry coconut powder instrad of fresh one but it has not effected the taste.
