About this Recipe

A summer special porridge which can be seen along the road side stalls in Tamilnadu. People stand in queue to buy this delicious drink.  This healthy and energy rich porridge finds place in our  menu as breakfast during summer at least twice a week.

Ingredients & Quantity
  • Pearlmillet/Bajra/kambu Powder 100gms or 2 full laddles
  • Water 500 ml
  • Blended curd/Thick butter milk 2 cups
  • Salt to taste
  • Finely chopped shallots 2 tb spoon
  • Finely chopped green chillies from 2 chillies
  • Mustard seeds for seasoning Curry leaves and coriander leaves for garnishing
How to cook?
  1. Mix the powder well without lumps with water and boil in a vessel. Keep the flame low since it will become thick and stick to the bottom easily. Add salt and keep stirring. In few minutes the mixture will become thick and become like porridge.
  2. Allow it to cool and add the buttermilk and mix well.
  3.  Heat a sauteing pan with a tea spoon of oil and saute it with mustard seeds and curry leaves. Add the chopped shallots and coriander leaves and mix well. Fry any  sun dried crisps and serve with the porridge.
