Olives and onion sandwich is an unusual take on the famous street food of Mumbai, the ubiquitous sandwich. Olives give the tang and onions the crunch and sweetness which makes this dish quite enjoyable. A lip smacking start to the day!

  • Sandwich bread - 2 slices
  • Chipotle dressing - 1 tsp
  • Mustard sauce - 1 tsp
  • Onion - 1 small
  • Green and black marinated olives - 4-5
  • Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Pizza seasoning - 1/2 tsp
  • Butter to toast the bread slices


  • Toast the bread lightly and keep aside.
  • Cut the onions in roundels and saute in butter till they slightly caramelise. Cut the olives in elongated halves.
  • Spread the chipotle dressing on one slice and mustard sauce on the another slice of bread.
  • Keep the olives and onions on one slice and sprinkle pepper powder and pizza seasoning on the top.
  • Close the sandwich and again toast on the frying pan with butter till it turns golden brown. Serve hot.


You can add cheese for that extra oomph.
