About Refreshing Indian Black Plum Lemonade (Naaval Palam)

Experience the unique taste of summer with this vibrant Indian Black Plum Lemonade! Made with seasonal Naaval Palam (also known as Jamun), this refreshing beverage combines the sweet, tangy, and slightly astringent notes of the black plums with the zest of lemon and the coolness of mint. It's the perfect thirst-quencher for hot days.
Previously, I shared a simple juice recipe, but this lemonade takes the flavor profile to a whole new level. The perfectly balanced sweet and tart flavors are incredibly refreshing, and the subtle astringency of the black plums adds a delightful complexity.
This recipe is easy to follow and uses readily available ingredients. Be sure to chill the lemonade thoroughly for the best taste – it enhances the freshness and prevents any bitterness. Let's capture the essence of summer in a glass!

Recipe Notes

Expert Tips for the Best Indian Black Plum Lemonade:

  • For a sweeter lemonade, use a sugar substitute like agave nectar or honey.
  • If your black plums are not very ripe, add a pinch of salt to balance the tartness.
  • To enhance the mint flavor, gently muddle the mint leaves before adding them to the pitcher.
  • For a sparkling version, add chilled sparkling water instead of regular water.
