But when combined with fresh herbs, the infusion of novel flavors takes it to yet another level. It is easy to make, relatively inexpensive and gets ready in a jiffy. The trick lies in keeping some simple sugar syrup ready at all times.

  • Take sugar and water in (1:1 ratio) in a saucepan.

  • Let it simmer till it dissolves completely.

  • Keep aside till it cools down completely. The syrup can be bottled up and refrigerated for 1-2 months.
  • In the meanwhile, cut the lemons into halves.
  • Use a squeezer to extract the juice. This makes the task easier and also removes the irksome seeds.

To Assemble the lemonade

  • Add lemon juice, mint leaves and chilled water to the serving glasses. (Use a muddler to crush the herbs and infuse their natural oils into the water)
  • Stir in the sugar syrup and adjust the level of sweetness.
  • Lastly, add the ice-cubes just before serving the Lemonade.

Recipe Notes

  • Lemons will yield more juice if immersed in a bowl of warm water for 5-10 mins before juicing them.
  • Fresh lemon juice can be bottled up and stored for 2-3 days in the refrigerator.
