Ingredients
For the Laddoo
- 2 cup Coconut ensure it's finely shredded., freshly grated is best. if using dried, shredded
- 1 can (14 oz) Sweetened Milk condensed
- 1/4 cup Milk Powder unsweetened milk powder., use a good quality
- 6 pods Cardamom green cardamom pods; remove seeds and finely grind.
- 2 tbsp Clarified Butter for greasing hands and optional extra for toasting
Optional Garnish
- 2 tbsp Coconut for rolling the laddoos. set aside some from the main amount., shredded
Instructions
Toast the Coconut
- Heat a heavy-bottomed pan over low heat. Add the shredded coconut and toast for 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently, until fragrant and lightly golden. Avoid burning.
Set Aside Some Coconut
- Remove 2-3 tablespoons of the toasted coconut and set aside for rolling the laddoos.
Combine Ingredients
- Return the remaining toasted coconut to the pan. Add the condensed milk, milk powder, and ground cardamom. Stir well to combine.
Cook the Mixture
- Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, for 2-3 minutes, or until the mixture comes together and pulls away from the sides of the pan. Be careful not to burn.
Shape the Laddoos
- Lightly grease your palms with ghee. Take small portions of the mixture and roll them into balls (laddoos).
Roll and Serve
- Roll each laddoo in the reserved toasted coconut. Arrange the laddoos in an airtight container. Serve immediately or refrigerate for later. They taste delicious either way!
