Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
- 1 cup Rolled Oats
- 1 cup Desiccated Coconut shredded coconut can be used; ensure it's well-dried
- 1 cup Sugar granulated
- 1/4 tsp Cardamom Powder finely ground; also known as elaichi powder
Other Ingredients
- 1 tbsp Ghee desi ghee preferred for authentic flavor
Instructions
Prepare the Oats
- Dry roast 1 cup of rolled oats in a pan over medium heat until lightly golden. Allow to cool completely.
- Then, grind the roasted oats into a fine flour using a blender.
Combine Ingredients
- In a heavy-bottomed pan, combine 1 cup of desiccated coconut and 1 cup of granulated sugar.
- Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely and the mixture is slightly sticky.
Add Flavor and Nuts
- Reduce heat to low. Add 1/4 teaspoon of cardamom powder and stir well.
- Add the ground oat flour, 10 chopped almonds, and 10 chopped cashews. Mix thoroughly to combine all ingredients.
Finish and Shape
- Remove from heat and stir in 1 tablespoon of ghee. Mix well until the ghee is evenly distributed.
- Let the mixture cool for 7-8 minutes, or until it's slightly firm to the touch but still pliable.
- Shape the mixture into small, lemon-sized balls (ladoos).
Cool and Serve
- Place the ladoos on a plate and allow them to cool completely.
- Once cooled, store the ladoos in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3-4 days.
