Ingredients
Ingredients
- 1 cup Rice Flour
- ¾ cup Sugar powdered
- ½ cup Ghee
- 1 tsp Cardamom ground
- 1 tbsp Pistachios chopped
Instructions
- In a pan over medium heat, roast the rice flour for 3-5 minutes. This light toasting enhances the nutty flavor of the rice flour. Be careful not to let it brown.
- Add ¾ of the ghee to the pan and continue roasting the rice flour for another 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly. The ghee helps to evenly distribute the heat and prevents burning.
- Remove the pan from the heat and let the mixture cool slightly. Transfer the roasted rice flour to a mixing bowl.
- Add the powdered sugar, ground cardamom, and most of the chopped pistachios to the bowl. Reserve some pistachios for garnishing.
- Gently knead the mixture until it forms a soft, pliable dough. Add a touch more ghee if needed.
- Divide the dough into small, equal portions. Roll each portion between your palms to form round ladoo.
- Garnish each ladoo with the reserved chopped pistachios.
- Your Healthy & Delicious Rice Flour Ladoo are ready to be served and enjoyed!
Recipe Notes
Good To Know
- For an extra nutty flavor, lightly toast the rice flour in a dry pan over low heat until it releases a pleasant aroma before mixing with ghee; this enhances both taste and texture.
- If you prefer a vegan version, substitute desi ghee with cold-pressed coconut oil, which adds a subtle tropical note and binds the laddoo just as well.
- Experiment with mix-ins like finely chopped dried cranberries, raisins, or a sprinkle of roasted sesame seeds for added flavor and visual appeal.
Expert Tips
- For perfectly round laddoos, use a small ice cream scoop or melon baller to portion the mixture.
- If the mixture is too dry and crumbly, add a teaspoon of warm milk or melted ghee at a time until it comes together.
- These laddoos make a wonderful festive treat or a thoughtful homemade gift.
Storage Instructions
- To keep laddoos fresh and maintain their softness, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days; avoid refrigeration, as it can make them hard.
