Ingredients
Spice Blend
- 2 tsp Chili Powder red
- 4 tsp Coriander Powder also known as dhania
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder also known as haldi
- 1 tsp Cumin Powder also known as jeera. use pre-ground or finely grind whole cumin seeds.
- 1 1/2 tsp Salt or to taste
Cooking
- 2 tbsp Oil for frying. vegetable or coconut oil recommended.
Instructions
Prepare the Pomfret
- Wash and clean the pomfret fillets thoroughly. Make 2-3 small slits on each side of the fish to ensure even cooking and marination.
Make the Spice Paste
- In a bowl, combine red chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, and salt. Add the juice of 1 lemon and mix well. Add a little water (1-2 tablespoons) to create a smooth paste.
Marinate the Fish
- Gently rub the spice paste all over the pomfret fillets, ensuring they are evenly coated. Marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to an hour for maximum flavor.
Shallow Fry the Pomfret
- Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Carefully place the marinated pomfret fillets in the pan. Shallow fry for approximately 5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Drizzle a teaspoon of extra oil halfway through cooking to maintain crispness.
