Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
- 100 gm Gram Flour also known as besan
- 1/2 cup Sugar powdered
- 1/2 tsp Cardamom powder; also known as elaichi
Other Ingredients
- 1/4 cup Clarified Butter clarified butter; you may need a little extra for greasing your hands.
- 20 gm Pistachios chopped
Instructions
Prepare the Gram Flour
- Sift the gram flour (besan) through a fine-mesh sieve to remove any lumps and set aside.
Toast the Gram Flour
- Heat a heavy-bottomed pan or wok over medium heat. Add the ghee and let it melt completely.
- Add the sifted gram flour to the melted ghee. Stir continuously with a wooden spoon or spatula, ensuring no lumps form and the flour is evenly coated with ghee.
- Continue stirring for 8-10 minutes, or until the mixture turns light golden brown and a fragrant aroma develops. Remove from heat.
Mix in the Flavorings
- Add the cardamom powder to the warm gram flour mixture. Mix well to combine the flavors.
Incorporate the Sugar
- Allow the mixture to cool slightly until it's warm enough to handle. Add the powdered sugar and mix thoroughly until it is well incorporated.
Shape the Ladoos
- Lightly grease your palms with ghee. Take a small portion of the mixture (about 1-2 tablespoons), roll it into a ball, and gently shape it into a round ladoo.
- Repeat the process until all the mixture is used up.
Garnish and Serve
- Garnish the ladoos with chopped pistachios. Serve immediately or store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
Recipe Notes
Expert Tips for Perfect Besan Ladoo
- Use good quality ghee for the best flavor and aroma.
- Stir the gram flour continuously to prevent burning and ensure even toasting.
- Don't add the sugar until the mixture has cooled slightly to prevent it from dissolving.
- If the mixture is too dry to roll into ladoos, add a teaspoon of warm milk or ghee at a time until it reaches the desired consistency.
