This is a delicious and spicy mutton gravy made using ground onions and tomatoes. Laal maas is best served with Chicken Biryani or as a side dish with roti or rice.

Ingredients
  

  • 300 gms mutton cut into pieces
  • 1 tbsp garlic paste
  • ½ tbsp ginger paste
  • 1 onion ground to a paste
  • 3 to matoes cut into cubes
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 1 cardamom
  • 1 ” cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt or to taste
  • 1 tbsp chicken 65 masala
  • Chopped coriander leaves

Instructions
 

  • Heat 1 and 1/2 tbsp oil in a cooker, add cardamom, cinnamon and sauté for a few seconds, then add the chopped tomatoes and sauté till they are soft and oil starts separating. Switch off the gas and allow it to cool.
  • Transfer the cooked tomatoes, cardamom and cinnamon (without oil) to a mixer jar and grind to a paste.
  • Now add the remaining oil to the cooker, add the ground onions and sauté for a couple of minutes. Then add garlic and ginger paste and sauté till the raw smell goes.
  • Next add red chilli powder, salt and mix well. Then add the pureed tomatoes, chopped coriander leaves, mutton and 1 cup of water. Close a lid and pressure cook for 4 whistles.
  • Once done, check if the mutton is cooked and add chicken 65 masala and mix well. Cook again for a few minutes till the gravy starts thickening.
  • Switch off the gas and transfer to a bowl. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with Biryani and raita.
