Chatpatta Fish Fry

This recipe I got inspired from my mom since I was a teenager. It's little bit similar to chilli fish but here the fish are shallow fried instead of deep fry.

Ingredients
  

  • 250 gm rohu fish marinated with turmeric and salt
  • 2 onions medium
  • 1 tbsp garlic finely chopped
  • 1/2 tbsp ginger finely chopped
  • 4 to 5 green chillies
  • 1/2 tbsp black pepper
  • 3 to matoes chopped or pureed
  • 1 tbsp tomato sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon Kashmiri mirch powder optional
  • 1 teaspoon punch phutan
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Oil to fry the fish
  • Salt as per required

Instructions
 

  • Shallow fry the fish in a wok,take out in a plate and keep aside.
  • Marinate the fish with turmeric and salt. Take 2 tbsp of oil in the same wok,add punch phutan and allow them to splutter.
  • Then add the chopped onions,green chillies and fry them until the onions get translucent. Add the chopped ginger, garlic and tomatoes. Stir for few minutes.
  • Add the fried fish, tomato sauce, soya sauce and gently give a nice stir so that the fish pieces doesn't break.
  • Finally add the black pepper and stir again. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves if you want and serve hot.

Notes

You can add cumin and coriander powder if you wish to. It will taste good in either way.
