Ingredients
For the Tea
- 1 cup Milk
- 1/4 cup Water
- 2 tsp Tea Leaves or your preferred tea type, black
- 1 tsp Ginger Paste freshly grated ginger can also be used
- 5-7 Tulsi Leaves holy basil, adjust to taste
- 1/2 tsp Masala Chai Spice Blend optional; cardamom, cinnamon, cloves
Instructions
Prepare the Jaggery Syrup
- Combine jaggery and 1/4 cup water in a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the jaggery dissolves completely and forms a syrup.
Brew the Tea
- In a separate saucepan, combine milk, water, black tea leaves, ginger paste, and tulsi leaves. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
Combine and Serve
- Reduce heat to low and let the tea simmer for 2-3 minutes, or until it reaches your desired strength. Stir in the prepared jaggery syrup. Strain the tea through a fine-mesh sieve into a cup and serve immediately. Add masala chai spice blend if using during simmering.
