For the Jaggery Syrup

  • 1/2 cup Jaggery alternatively, use brown sugar if unavailable
  • 1/4 cup Water

Prepare the Jaggery Syrup

  • Combine jaggery and 1/4 cup water in a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the jaggery dissolves completely and forms a syrup.

Brew the Tea

  • In a separate saucepan, combine milk, water, black tea leaves, ginger paste, and tulsi leaves. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.

Combine and Serve

  • Reduce heat to low and let the tea simmer for 2-3 minutes, or until it reaches your desired strength. Stir in the prepared jaggery syrup. Strain the tea through a fine-mesh sieve into a cup and serve immediately. Add masala chai spice blend if using during simmering.
