Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
Wet Ingredients
- 500 ml Buttermilk
- 1/2 tsp Baking Soda adds fluffiness. use less if you are unsure., optional
Cooking Supplies
- 2 tbsp Oil for cooking the dosas. any neutral oil will work
Instructions
Prepare the Batter
- Wash the rice and urad dal thoroughly. Add the poha (flattened rice). Soak all three in the buttermilk for at least 5-6 hours, or preferably overnight, for optimal softness.
Grind the Batter
- Grind the soaked mixture to a smooth, slightly thin batter. The consistency should be pourable, slightly thinner than regular dosa batter. Add baking soda (if using) and salt. Mix well.
Cook the Dosa
- Heat a non-stick dosa tawa or griddle over medium heat. Lightly grease the tawa with oil.
- Pour a ladleful of batter onto the hot tawa. Do not spread the batter too thin; a slightly thicker dosa will result in a softer texture.
- Drizzle a few drops of oil around the edges of the dosa. Cover the tawa with a lid for about 2 minutes to allow the dosa to cook through. Do not flip.
- Once cooked, gently slide the dosa onto a plate. Repeat with the remaining batter.
Serve
- Serve your super soft buttermilk dosas hot with your favorite chutney or sambar.
