Ingredients
Cake
- 1 Chocolate Cake or any flavor of your choice
Ice Cream Layer
- 1 ltr Vanilla Ice Cream slightly softened
- 17.5 Strawberries sliced
- 2 tbsp Strawberry Sauce or crushed strawberries
- ½ cup Sugar Syrup made from ½ cup water and 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tbsp Tutti Frutti red
Topping & Garnish (Optional)
- Cake Decorations as desired
Instructions
- Slice the chocolate cake horizontally into two even layers.
- Place one cake layer in the bottom of a cake mold or springform pan. Evenly brush the cake layer with sugar syrup. This adds moisture and sweetness.
- Spread a layer of softened vanilla ice cream over the syrup-soaked cake layer.
- Arrange the sliced strawberries over the ice cream. Drizzle with strawberry sauce and sprinkle with tutti frutti.
- Place the second cake layer on top and brush it with the remaining sugar syrup.
- Cover the entire cake with the remaining softened ice cream, smoothing the top. Freeze for at least 2 hours to allow the cake to set completely.
- Once set, carefully remove the cake from the mold. Garnish with your favorite cake decorations, if desired. Serve chilled.
Recipe Notes
Good To Know
- For clean, distinct layers, briefly freeze the cake after adding each layer (especially the ice cream) to prevent melting and mixing—about 20 minutes per layer works well.
- If you want to add a surprise element, mix chopped pistachios or roasted almonds into the vanilla ice cream before layering for extra crunch and a nutty flavor that complements the chocolate and strawberries.
- To prevent the chocolate cake from becoming soggy, brush it lightly with the strawberry sugar syrup instead of soaking it; this ensures flavor without sacrificing texture.
- For an eye-catching presentation, arrange sliced fresh strawberries in a spiral or fan pattern on top before sprinkling with tutti frutti and other decorations just before serving.
- You can change the flavor according to your taste for fruits and ice cream.
Expert Tips
- Use high-quality chocolate for the cake to enhance the overall flavor profile of the dessert.
- Make your own strawberry syrup by simmering fresh strawberries with sugar and a touch of lemon juice for a brighter, more intense strawberry flavor.
- If you don't have tutti frutti, consider using other decorative toppings like chocolate shavings, sprinkles, or fresh mint leaves.
Storage Instructions
- This dessert is best served immediately. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 days. Allow to soften slightly before serving.
