- Soak the banana stem slices in the buttermilk for at least 1 hour. This allows the stem to soften and absorb the buttermilk's flavor. After marinating, transfer the banana stem and buttermilk to a blender. Blend until smooth. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve, discarding the fibrous solids.
