About Refreshing Adraki Chaas (Ginger Buttermilk) Recipe

Adraki Chaas, or ginger buttermilk, is a beloved refreshing drink in Gujarat, India, traditionally enjoyed after meals to aid digestion. This recipe shares my favorite variation, a cool and subtly spiced beverage perfect for hot days or as a digestive aid.
Unlike plain buttermilk, Adraki Chaas boasts a delightful zing from fresh ginger and aromatic spices. It's incredibly simple to make, requiring just a few readily available ingredients and a quick blending process. Prepare to be amazed by how this simple drink elevates the post-meal experience!

Recipe Notes

Expert Tips for the Best Adraki Chaas

  • Yogurt Choice: Use good quality plain yogurt for the best flavor. Greek yogurt works well too for a thicker chaas.
  • Spice it Up: Adjust the amount of chaas masala or ginger to your preference. A pinch of black salt (kala namak) enhances the flavor profile.
  • Garnish (Optional): A sprinkle of roasted cumin seeds or a sprig of fresh mint adds visual appeal and an extra layer of flavor.
  • Make it Ahead: Adraki Chaas can be made a day in advance for a more intense flavor development.
