Ingredients
For the Oats & Moong Dal Tikkis
- 1/2 cup Mung Bean split yellow gram; rinsed, yellow
- 1/2 cup Oats rolled
- 2 tbsp Yogurt fresh
- 1 tbsp Gram Flour besan; roasted
- 1/2 tsp Chili finely chopped, green
- 2 tsp Chaat Masala
- 2 tsp Chili Powder
- 1/4 tsp Garam Masala
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
- 1 tsp Ginger-Garlic Paste
- 1 tbsp Coriander finely chopped, fresh
- 1 tbsp Onion finely minced
- 1-2 tsp Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp Oil for cooking and greasing
For the Frankie Masala
- 1 tsp Mango Powder dried
- 1/2 tsp Chili Powder
- 1 tsp Pepper Powder white
- 1 tsp Salt to taste
For Assembly
- 12 Roti/Tortilla Wraps
- 1 tbsp Chilli Garlic Sauce for serving
Instructions
Prepare the Moong Dal
- Clean, wash, and boil 1/2 cup yellow moong dal in 1 cup water until soft and cooked. All water should evaporate.
Blend the Dal
- Drain the cooked dal and blend it in a mixer to a coarse paste.
Make the Tikki Mixture
- Transfer the dal paste to a bowl. Add yogurt, gram flour, green chili, chaat masala, chili powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, ginger-garlic paste, coriander, onion, and salt. Mix thoroughly. Reserve some oats for coating.
Shape and Coat the Tikkis
- Divide the mixture into 12 equal portions. Shape each portion into a small, oblong patty. Coat each patty with the reserved oats.
Cook the Tikkis
- Lightly grease a non-stick pan with 1 tablespoon of oil. Cook the tikkis in the pan over medium heat, using minimal oil, until golden brown and cooked through.
Prepare the Frankie Masala
- In a small bowl, combine amchur powder, chili powder, white pepper powder, and salt.
Assemble the Frankie
- Sprinkle the frankie masala over the cooked tikkis. To assemble, place a tikki on a roti/tortilla wrap. Add some minced onion and coriander. Roll up tightly. Serve immediately with chilli garlic sauce.

- For extra flavor, soak the moong dal for 30 minutes before boiling.
- Adjust the amount of spices according to your preference. If you prefer a milder taste, reduce the amount of chili powder.
- If the tikki mixture is too wet, add a little more gram flour to thicken it.
