Ingredients
For the Oreo Crust
- 200 gm Oreo Cookies
- 100 gm Butter melted, unsalted
For the Chocolate Custard Filling
- 1 cup Milk
- 1/2 cup Sugar granulated, or caster sugar
- 150 gm Butter unsalted
- 300 gm Chocolate chopped, dark
- 2 Large Eggs
- 2 tbsp Corn Flour
- 100 gm Chocolate for drizzling (optional), melted, white
Instructions
Prepare the Oreo Crust
- Pulse Oreo cookies in a food processor until finely crushed. Add melted butter and pulse until combined. Press the mixture into the bottom of a 9-inch (23cm) tart pan with a removable bottom. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm.
Make the Chocolate Custard
- In a medium saucepan, whisk together milk, sugar, cornstarch and eggs until smooth.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and comes to a simmer. Remove from heat and stir in chopped dark chocolate until melted and smooth.
Assemble and Chill
- Pour the chocolate custard into the prepared Oreo crust. Smooth the top with a spatula or offset spatula. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the custard to set completely.
Finish and Serve
- Drizzle with melted white chocolate (optional). Carefully remove the tart from the pan. Cut into slices and serve chilled.
Recipe Notes
Expert Tips
- For a richer flavor, use high-quality dark chocolate with a high percentage of cacao.
- If your custard is too thick, whisk in a tablespoon of milk at a time until you reach your desired consistency.
- To prevent cracks in the custard, make sure the chocolate is completely melted and smooth before adding it to the hot milk mixture.
- For a fun twist, add chopped nuts, chocolate shavings, or fresh berries to the top of the tart before serving.
