Ingredients
For the Barfi
- 1 cup Milk Powder
- 3/4 cup Sugar granulated
- 2 tbsp Cocoa Powder unsweetened
- 1/4 cup Water for sugar syrup
- 4 tbsp Butter unsalted
For Garnishing
- 1/2 cup Nuts chopped (e.g., almonds, cashews), mixed, pistachios
Instructions
Prepare the Sugar Syrup
- Combine sugar and water in a pan. Heat over low heat, stirring constantly until sugar dissolves completely. Continue cooking until the syrup reaches a soft-ball stage (forms a soft ball when a small amount is dropped into cold water).
Combine Ingredients
- Reduce heat to the lowest setting. Add milk powder, cocoa powder, and butter to the sugar syrup. Stir vigorously and continuously until the mixture thickens significantly and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
Set and Garnish
- Pour the mixture onto a greased 8x8 inch baking dish or similar flat surface. Spread evenly to about 1/2 inch thickness. Sprinkle with chopped nuts immediately.
Cool and Cut
- Allow the barfi to cool completely at room temperature. Once completely cool and firm, cut into desired shapes (squares, diamonds, etc.).
