Additional Tips
- For extra crunch and flavor, sprinkle a thin layer of panko breadcrumbs tossed with melted butter and a pinch of smoked paprika over the mac and cheese before baking the crostini.
- If you want a spicier kick, mix finely diced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce into the macaroni mixture before topping the baguette slices.
- Prepare the mac and cheese portion up to a day in advance and refrigerate; assemble on the baguette slices and bake just before serving for stress-free entertaining.
- For a fun variation, add finely chopped sun-dried tomatoes or crispy bacon bits to the macaroni mixture to introduce new textures and flavors.
