- 3/4 cup Water or as needed to form a soft dough
- 1/2 tsp Salt for the dough
For the Filling
- 1 cup Purple Cabbage finely shredded
- 1 Onion finely chopped
- 1/4 cup Coriander finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp Carom Seeds ajwain
- 1/4 tsp Garam Masala
- 1/2 tsp Chili Powder red
- Salt for the filling, to taste
For Cooking
- 2 tbsp Ghee for shallow frying
Instructions
Prepare the Dough
- Combine wheat flour and salt. Gradually add water, mixing until a soft, pliable dough forms. Knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Cover and let rest for at least 30 minutes.
Prepare the Filling
- In a bowl, combine shredded purple cabbage, chopped onion, coriander, carom seeds, garam masala, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
Assemble the Parathas
- Divide the dough into small, lemon-sized balls. Roll each ball into a thin circle. Place a spoonful of the cabbage filling in the center. Bring the edges of the dough together to form a bundle, then gently flatten it into a thick paratha. Lightly dust with flour to prevent sticking.
Cook the Parathas
- Heat a lightly oiled griddle or tawa over medium heat. Place the paratha on the hot surface and cook, pressing gently with a spatula, until light brown spots appear on both sides. Brush with ghee or oil during cooking for added flavor and crispiness.
Serve
- Serve the hot purple cabbage parathas with your favorite pickle, chutney, yogurt, or vegetable curry.
