Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Papaya grated
- 1/4 cup Beetroot Paste
- 2 Tbsp Ghee homemade
- 2 Tbsp Coconut Paste
Nuts and Seeds
- 2 Tbsp Raisins
- 2 Tbsp Nuts (almonds, cashews, grated, or your choice)
- 2 Tbsp Melon Seeds
Sweeteners and Flavor
- 2 Tbsp Jaggery powdered
- 1 pinch Cardamom Powder
Flour
- 2 Tbsp Millet Flour mixed
Instructions
- In a wide pan over medium heat, melt the ghee. This will help toast the ingredients and develop a rich flavor.
- Add the grated papaya and beetroot paste to the pan. Sauté for a few minutes until the papaya softens slightly.
- Add the coconut paste, raisins, grated nuts, and melon seeds. Stir well to combine.
- Now, add the powdered jaggery and cardamom powder. Continue to stir until the jaggery melts and the mixture thickens. This creates the binding for the laddoos.
- Gradually add the mixed millet flour, stirring continuously to prevent lumps. Cook for a few more minutes until the mixture comes together and leaves the sides of the pan.
- Remove the pan from the heat and let the mixture cool slightly. It should be warm enough to handle but not too hot.
- Grease your palms with a little ghee to prevent sticking. Take a small portion of the mixture and roll it between your palms to form a laddoo shape.
- Repeat the process with the remaining mixture to make all the laddoos.
- Once the laddoos have cooled completely, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to fifteen days.
Recipe Notes
Expert Tips
- For a richer flavor, consider using bone-in chicken thighs instead of boneless, skinless breasts.
- Adjust the spices to your liking. If you prefer a spicier dish, add more chili powder or a pinch of cayenne pepper.
- Don't overcrowd the pan when browning the chicken. This will ensure the chicken cooks evenly and develops a nice crust.
Storage Instructions
- Store leftover chicken and sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
