Ingredients
For the Filling
- 1/4 cup Cottage Cheese grated
- 2 tbsp Pistachios chopped
- 1/2 tsp Ginger chopped
- 1/2 tsp Garlic chopped
- 1 Chili Pepper chopped, green
- 1 tbsp Corn boiled
- Salt to taste
For the Dough
- 3 tbsp Carrot Paste
- 2 tbsp Gram Flour
- 1/4 cup All-Purpose Flour
- Salt to taste
- 1 tsp Butter
For the White Dipping Sauce
- 1 tbsp Heavy Cream
- 2 tbsp Yogurt
- 1/2 tsp Garlic grated
- 1/4 tsp Pepper black
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the grated paneer, chopped pistachios, ginger, garlic, green chili, and boiled corn. Season with salt and mix well.
- In a separate bowl, combine the carrot paste, gram flour, all-purpose flour, salt, and butter. Mix to form a smooth dough. The moisture from the carrot paste should be sufficient, but if needed, add a few drops of water to achieve the right consistency.
- Divide the dough into small, equal portions. Roll each portion into a thin circle. Place a spoonful of the paneer filling in the center of each circle.
- Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape, pinching the edges firmly to seal. Crimp the edges decoratively, if desired. This ensures the filling stays inside during steaming.
- Steam the momos for 15-20 minutes, or until they are cooked through and the dough is translucent. Steaming ensures the momos are light and healthy.
- While the momos are steaming, prepare the dipping sauce. In a small bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, plain yogurt, grated garlic, black pepper, and salt until smooth.
- Serve the hot, steamed momos immediately with the creamy white dipping sauce.
Recipe Notes
Expert Tips
- For a richer flavor, consider using bone-in chicken thighs instead of boneless, skinless breasts. The bone adds depth and the dark meat stays moister during cooking.
- Don't overcrowd the pan when browning the chicken. Work in batches to ensure each piece gets a nice sear, which develops flavor and texture.
- Adjust the cooking time depending on the size and thickness of your chicken pieces. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
Storage Instructions
- Store leftover chicken and sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheat gently on the stovetop or in the microwave, adding a splash of chicken broth or water if needed to prevent drying out.
