- 5-6 Olives sliced
- 1 1/2 - 2 cup Mozzarella Cheese shredded
- 1-2 tsp Pepper Flakes crushed, red
- 1 tbsp Olive Oil for greasing the pan
- 1 tbsp Semolina/Cornmeal for crispier crust, optional
Instructions
Make the Pizza Sauce
- Blend tomatoes, onion, green chilies, and garlic into a smooth paste. Add to a saucepan with tomato puree, oregano, Italian seasoning, sugar, and salt to taste. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 15-20 minutes until thickened. Set aside to cool.
Prepare the Hung Yogurt (Optional)
- If not using Greek yogurt, drain plain yogurt in cheesecloth for 1-2 hours to create thick hung yogurt.
Make the Pizza Dough
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Add hung or Greek yogurt, red pepper flakes, and oregano. Mix until combined, then knead on a lightly floured surface for 5-8 minutes until soft and pliable.
Assemble and Bake the Pizza
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a pizza pan with olive oil and sprinkle with semolina/cornmeal. Roll out the dough and place it in the prepared pan. Spread evenly to create a thin crust and prick with a fork.
- Spread pizza sauce over the crust. Layer with mozzarella cheese, onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, olives, and additional red pepper flakes. Top with remaining cheese.
- Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Serve
- Remove from oven and let cool slightly before slicing and serving hot!
Recipe Notes
Expert Tips for the Perfect No-Yeast Pizza
- For extra flavor, use high-quality canned crushed tomatoes in addition to or instead of fresh tomatoes for the sauce.
- Don't overwork the dough! Overkneading can result in a tough crust.
- If you prefer a crispier crust, pre-bake the dough for 5-7 minutes before adding toppings.
- Feel free to experiment with your favorite pizza toppings! Sausage, pepperoni, spinach, and artichoke hearts are all delicious options.
