Instructions

Preheat & Prep

  • Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

Combine Wet Ingredients

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the melted coconut oil and maple syrup until well combined. Stir in the vanilla extract (if using).

Combine Dry Ingredients

  • In a large bowl, combine the rolled oats, almonds, pecans, sunflower seeds, salt, cinnamon, and brown sugar. Mix thoroughly to distribute the spices evenly.

Combine Wet and Dry

  • Pour the wet ingredients over the dry ingredients and stir until all the oats are evenly coated with the wet mixture. Make sure everything is well combined.

Bake the Granola

  • Spread the granola mixture in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 25-30 minutes, stirring halfway through, until golden brown and crispy. Keep a close eye on it to prevent burning.

Cool and Store

  • Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the granola cool completely on the baking sheet. Once cool, break it into smaller clusters if desired. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.

Recipe Notes

Expert Tips for the Best Homemade Granola

  • Adjust sweetness to your liking: Feel free to reduce or increase the amount of brown sugar or maple syrup based on your preference.
  • Get creative with add-ins: Experiment with other nuts, seeds, dried fruits (such as cranberries, raisins, or chopped dates), or even chocolate chips!
  • Watch for burning: Ovens vary, so keep an eye on your granola while it bakes. Start checking for doneness around 25 minutes.
  • For extra crunch: Let the granola cool completely on the baking sheet before breaking it up. This helps to retain its crispiness.
