Ingredients
For the Dough
- 2 cup Gram Flour
- 1 tsp Ajwain seeds
- 1/2 tbsp Chili Powder red
- 1/2 tbsp Coriander seeds, crushed, roasted
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Salt
For the Paneer Filling
- 150 gm Cottage Cheese crumbled
- 1 Onion finely chopped
- 1 Bell Peppers finely chopped, green
- 2-3 Carrot finely chopped
- 2 Chili chopped, green
- 1 tbsp Coriander leaves, chopped
- 1 tbsp Mint leaves, chopped
- 1 tsp Pepper black
- 1-2 tsp Salt to taste
For Frying
- Oil for deep frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the gram flour, ajwain seeds, red chili powder, crushed roasted coriander seeds, turmeric powder, and salt.
- Gradually add water while mixing to form a semi-soft dough. Knead the dough until smooth and pliable. Set aside.
- In a separate bowl, combine the crumbled paneer, chopped onion, green bell pepper, carrots, green chilies, coriander leaves, mint leaves, black pepper, and salt. Mix well.
- Heat oil in a wok or deep fryer over medium heat. Ensure the oil is hot enough for frying by dropping a small piece of dough; it should sizzle gently.
- Divide the dough into small, equal-sized balls. Flatten each ball in your palm.
- Place a spoonful of the paneer filling in the center of each flattened dough circle. Carefully seal the edges, enclosing the filling completely.
- Gently shape the filled dough balls into smooth rounds. This ensures even cooking.
- Carefully drop the paneer pataka balls into the hot oil in small batches. Fry until golden brown and crispy on all sides, turning occasionally for even browning. Frying in batches prevents the oil temperature from dropping too much.
- Remove the fried paneer pataka from the oil using a slotted spoon. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
- Cut the paneer pataka in half and sprinkle with chaat masala for an extra burst of flavor. Serve hot with green chutney and onion rings.
