Ingredients
Maggi Noodles
- 1 package Maggi Noodles or any instant noodles
- 1 package Maggi Taste Maker
Vegetables & Aromatics
- 1 medium Onion bell pepper, carrots, finely chopped (you can add cabbage, or other vegetables)
Pakora Batter
- 1 Tbsp Corn Flour
- 1 tsp Salt or to taste
Other
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a pan, heat ½ tsp oil. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent. This builds a flavor base for the pakora.
- Cook the Maggi noodles according to package directions. Add the sautéed onions to the cooked noodles.
- Let the noodle mixture cool slightly. This helps the batter adhere better. In a wok or deep fryer, heat oil for frying.
- In a bowl, combine the cooled Maggi mixture, corn flour, and salt. Mix well to form a sticky batter. If needed, lightly wet your hands to prevent sticking.
- Carefully drop spoonfuls of the Maggi mixture into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown and crispy, flipping occasionally for even cooking.
- Remove the pakora from the oil and place them on absorbent paper to drain excess oil. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce or ketchup.
Recipe Notes
Good To Know
- For extra crunch and color, add finely chopped bell peppers or spinach to the pakora mixture before frying.
- If you want a cheesier twist, mix in a small handful of grated mozzarella or processed cheese—this will create gooey, cheesy centers in your pakoras.
- Serve the pakoras in heart shapes using metal cookie cutters to make them extra festive for Valentine’s Day; lightly grease the cutters, press the mixture inside, and gently slide out before frying.
- Leftover pakoras can be reheated in an air fryer or oven at 180°C (350°F) for 3-4 minutes to restore their crispiness without making them oily.
Expert Tips
- For a crispier pakora, ensure your oil is hot enough before frying. Test by dropping a small amount of batter into the oil – it should sizzle and float to the surface immediately.
- Don't overcrowd the pan when frying. This will lower the oil temperature and result in soggy pakoras. Fry in small batches for best results.
- Adjust the consistency of your pakora batter by adding small amounts of water or chickpea flour as needed. The batter should be thick enough to coat the vegetables but not too dense.
Storage Instructions
- Store leftover pakoras in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. For longer storage, refrigerate for up to 4 days.
