Ingredients
Maggi Noodles
- 1 pack Maggi Noodles
- 1 tsp Salt or as per taste
- 2 cup Oil for frying
Manchurian Balls
- 1 cup Cabbage shredded
- 1 cup Carrot shredded
- 1/2 cup Bell Peppers capsicum, chopped
- 2 Potatoes boiled
- 1/2 cup All-Purpose Flour
- 3 tbsp Corn Flour
- 1 tsp Salt or as per taste
- 1/2 tsp Pepper black
- 1 tbsp Ginger-Garlic Paste
Manchurian Gravy
- 1 cup Onion chopped
- 1 cup Bell Peppers capsicum, chopped
- 1 tbsp Ginger-Garlic Paste
- 1 tsp Salt or as per taste
- 1/2 tsp Pepper black
- 1 tbsp Soy Sauce
- 2 tbsp Tomato Sauce
- 1 tbsp Schezwan Sauce
- 1 tbsp Corn Flour
- 2 tbsp Coriander chopped
Instructions
- Cook the Maggi noodles according to package directions in 1 1/2 cups of salted boiling water. This ensures the noodles are perfectly cooked for shaping.
- Drain the cooked Maggi noodles thoroughly. This prevents the baskets from becoming soggy.
- Heat 2 cups of oil in a wok or deep skillet over medium-high heat. A wok is ideal for even frying.
- Divide the drained Maggi noodles into small portions. Arrange each portion in a heat-safe ladle or small bowl to create a basket shape. Gently submerge the ladle into the hot oil, frying until the noodles are golden brown and crispy. This creates the signature Maggi basket.
- Carefully remove the Maggi baskets from the oil and place them on a wire rack or paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. This helps maintain their crispness.
- To make the Manchurian balls, combine the shredded cabbage, shredded carrot, chopped bell pepper, boiled potatoes, all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and ginger-garlic paste in a large bowl. Mix well to ensure all ingredients are evenly distributed.
- Shape the mixture into small balls. Smaller balls cook more evenly.
- Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a separate wok or pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and bell pepper. Sauté until the onions are translucent and the peppers are slightly softened.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste, salt, and black pepper. Sauté for another minute until fragrant. This releases the flavors of the aromatics.
- Stir in the soy sauce, tomato sauce, and Schezwan sauce. Combine thoroughly.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and 2 tablespoons of water to create a slurry. This will thicken the gravy.
- Add the cornstarch slurry to the gravy and bring to a simmer, stirring constantly, until the gravy thickens. This creates a luscious coating for the Manchurian balls.
- Gently add the Manchurian balls to the gravy. Simmer for 2 minutes, allowing the balls to heat through and absorb the flavors of the sauce.
- Arrange the crispy Maggi baskets on a serving plate.
- Spoon the Manchurian balls and gravy into the Maggi baskets.
- Garnish with freshly chopped cilantro.
- Serve the Maggi Manchurian Baskets immediately while hot and crispy.
Recipe Notes
Good To Know
- For extra crispy baskets, let the shaped Maggi noodles rest in the refrigerator for 20-30 minutes before frying or baking.
- Add a hint of schezwan sauce or chili garlic sauce to the Manchurian mixture for a spicier flavor.
- For a gluten-free variation, use gluten-free noodles and substitute all-purpose flour in the Manchurian balls with chickpea flour or cornflour.
Expert Tips
- Experiment with different shapes for your Maggi baskets. Use cookie cutters or mold the noodles by hand into small bowls or cups.
- For a richer flavor, try adding finely chopped vegetables like carrots, peas, or bell peppers to the Manchurian mixture.
- Serve the Maggi baskets with a side of your favorite dipping sauce, such as sweet chili sauce, mayonnaise, or ketchup.
Storage Instructions
- If making ahead, store the cooled baskets and Manchurian balls separately in airtight containers.
- Assemble and bake or fry just before serving to maintain optimal crispness.
