Instructions

Prepare the French Beans

  • Wash the French beans thoroughly and pat them completely dry with a clean kitchen towel. Trim off both ends of each bean.

Make the Batter

  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the cornflour, chili flakes, garam masala, and salt. Gradually add the water, mixing until a smooth, semi-thick batter forms. Adjust the water as needed to achieve the right consistency.

Prepare for Frying

  • Spread the breadcrumbs on a plate. Heat the vegetable oil in a large frying pan or wok over medium heat. The oil is ready when a small pinch of breadcrumb sizzles immediately.

Coat and Fry the Beans

  • Dip each French bean into the batter, ensuring it's fully coated. Then, gently roll the battered bean in the breadcrumbs until evenly covered.

Fry until Golden Brown

  • Carefully place the breaded French beans into the hot oil, working in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy. This should take about 5-7 minutes.

Drain and Serve

  • Remove the crispy French beans from the oil and place them on a wire rack or paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Recipe Notes

Expert Tips for Extra Crispy French Beans

  • Dry is Key: Ensure your French beans are completely dry before coating. Excess moisture will prevent crispiness.
  • Don't Overcrowd the Pan: Fry in batches to maintain oil temperature and achieve even browning.
  • Adjust Spice Levels: Customize the spice level to your liking by adding more or less chili flakes and garam masala.
  • Serve Immediately: Crispy French beans are best served fresh out of the pan for optimal texture and flavor.
