Ingredients
For the French Beans
- 200 gm French Beans
For the Batter
- 3 tbsp Corn Flour
- 2 tbsp Chili Flakes
- 1 tbsp Garam Masala i used udupi ruchi brand, but any good quality garam masala will work.
- 1/2 tsp Salt to taste, adjust to your preference
- 1/4 cup Water add more if needed to reach desired batter consistency.
For Coating and Frying
- 1/2 cup Breadcrumb
- 250 ml Vegetable Oil for frying; use a high-smoke point oil like vegetable, canola, or peanut oil.
Instructions
Prepare the French Beans
- Wash the French beans thoroughly and pat them completely dry with a clean kitchen towel. Trim off both ends of each bean.
Make the Batter
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the cornflour, chili flakes, garam masala, and salt. Gradually add the water, mixing until a smooth, semi-thick batter forms. Adjust the water as needed to achieve the right consistency.
Prepare for Frying
- Spread the breadcrumbs on a plate. Heat the vegetable oil in a large frying pan or wok over medium heat. The oil is ready when a small pinch of breadcrumb sizzles immediately.
Coat and Fry the Beans
- Dip each French bean into the batter, ensuring it's fully coated. Then, gently roll the battered bean in the breadcrumbs until evenly covered.
Fry until Golden Brown
- Carefully place the breaded French beans into the hot oil, working in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
Drain and Serve
- Remove the crispy French beans from the oil and place them on a wire rack or paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Recipe Notes
Expert Tips for Extra Crispy French Beans
- Dry is Key: Ensure your French beans are completely dry before coating. Excess moisture will prevent crispiness.
- Don't Overcrowd the Pan: Fry in batches to maintain oil temperature and achieve even browning.
- Adjust Spice Levels: Customize the spice level to your liking by adding more or less chili flakes and garam masala.
- Serve Immediately: Crispy French beans are best served fresh out of the pan for optimal texture and flavor.
