Instructions

Prepare the Custard

  • Heat the milk in a heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat. Once warm, add the sugar and stir until completely dissolved.

Make the Custard Mixture

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the custard powder and a few tablespoons of cold milk until smooth, ensuring no lumps remain. Gradually whisk this mixture into the warm milk.

Cook the Custard

  • Reduce the heat to low and stir the custard constantly for 10-12 minutes, until it thickens to a creamy consistency. Remove from heat and stir in the cardamom powder.

Cool and Add Fruit

  • Let the custard cool completely to room temperature. Once cooled, gently fold in the diced apple, sliced banana, and grapes.

Chill and Serve

  • Transfer the fruit custard to a serving bowl or individual dishes. Refrigerate for at least 20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the custard to chill thoroughly. Serve chilled and enjoy!

Recipe Notes

Expert Tips for the Perfect Fruit Custard

  • For an extra-rich flavor, use full-fat milk and a touch of vanilla extract.
  • Adjust the amount of sugar to your preference depending on the sweetness of your fruits.
  • Feel free to experiment with other fruits like mangoes, berries, or peaches.
  • To prevent the fruit from sinking to the bottom, add it in stages throughout the cooling process.
