Sondesh is a famous sweet dish from Bengal. It is prepared from homemade paneer which is called chena. I have given a twist to the regular sondesh and prepared chocolate flavoured sondesh.

Ingredients
  

  • Milk - 1.5 liter
  • White Vinegar - 2 to 3 tablespoon
  • Milk Chocolate Bars - 10 - 20 gms
  • Cocoa Powder - 11/2 tablespoon
  • Sugar - 2/3 cup
  • Milk powder - 2 teaspoon
  • Cashew nuts - 6 to 8 for garnishing

Instructions
 

  • Boil milk in a heavy bottom pan and after i boils add white vinegar into it and wait for the milk to curdle.
  • Now cool it and pour it in a muslin cloth which will help to drain the whey from chena or home made cottage cheese.
  • Hang the muslin cloth for half an hour to drain out the extra moisture from the chena.
  • Now take out the chena in a plate and mash it well using your palm until (10 minutes)it becomes smooth in texture.
  • After that add sugar into it and mash it again for 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Next add milk powder and cocoa powder to the chena mixture and mash it once again for 10 minutes or until the texture of the mixture becomes smooth.
  • Now take the mashed chena mixture in a wok and keep on stirring under slow flame.
  • Other side, melt the chocolate bar in micro or double boiler ( Keep chocolate in a glass bowl and keep the bowl over a boiling water pan) method and add it to the chena mixture.
  • Mix the melted chocolate well and keep on stirring for 7 to 8 minutes. Do not overheat it otherwise it will be dry in texture.
  • Cool it and you can give any shapes using moulds and garnish with cashew nuts
