Death by Chocolate cake recipe is a perfect luscious chocolate cake recipe for the chocolate lovers.The "death by chocolate cake" was trademarked as a signature dish of Bennigan's restaurants in the United States but after its bankruptcy many new versions of death by chocolate cake recipes appeared.It is a perfect chocolate gift for chocolate lovers and guests during the holiday season. It is also known as American fudge cake. In this chocolate cake, dark chocolate and cocoa powder are main ingredients which are used as ganache to cover the chocolate sponge cake. It topped with chocolate chips and chocolate chunks. So here is a easy death by chocolate cake recipe for this festive season.

For Ganache
- 100 gm Fresh Cream
- 200 gm Dark chocolate
- 10 gm Unsalted Butter

- In a large mixing bowl beat two eggs. You can do it with regular whisker as well as an electric whisker. Add sugar, vanilla essence and oil. Continue to whisk until sugar dissolves.
- In a sifter sieve all-purpose flour, Cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients using cut and fold method. Do not over mix the batter. Use milk to make the batter of pouring consistency.
- Every flour has different absorption capacity so first start with 1 tbsp of milk and if required add the second spoon of milk.
- Meanwhile, preheat the oven at 180 °C for 10 minutes. Take a greased (or lined with parchment paper) baking tin and pour the batter into it. Tap it once to release any air in the batter
- Bake it in a preheated oven for 25 minutes or until it passes the toothpick test.
- After the baking is done, remove the tin from the oven. Let the cake rest for 5 minutes before you de-mould it. Let the cake rest on a wired rack and cool down after de-moulding.
- How to make chocolate ganache for death by chocolate cake recipe -
For Chocolate ganache
- Take 100 gm cream in a pan. Boil the cream on medium flame. After one boil turn off the flame and add chopped chocolate and butter. Mix it well. There should be no lumps. Let this ganache rest and with time it will thicken.
- How to assemble the Chocolate cake -
- Cut the cake sponge into two horizontal halves. Place one layer on board and spread some ganache on it. Add chopped and crushed chocolates. You may add another layer of ganache on chocolate pieces.
- Place the other half layer on top of it and repeat the same process. Cover the sides of the cake with ganache and make it smooth. Cover the top of the cake with chocolates chucks or chips
- Finally, drizzle some chocolate sauce on it. Let the cake rest in refrigerator for 30 minutes.
