Instructions

Prepare the Fish

  • Pat the fish fillets dry with paper towels. Season generously with salt and pepper.

Make the Mayo Topping

  • In a small bowl, combine melted butter, mayonnaise, onion flakes, and remaining salt and pepper. Mix well.

Preheat Oven & Arrange Fish

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Arrange the fish fillets in a baking dish, ensuring about 1 centimeter of space between each.

Top & Bake

  • Spread the mayo mixture evenly over each fillet. Top with breadcrumbs.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. For extra crispy breadcrumbs, broil for 1-2 minutes, watching carefully to prevent burning.

Garnish & Serve

  • Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately with a lemon wedge, if desired. Mashed potatoes or a simple green salad make excellent accompaniments.

Recipe Notes

Expert Tips for Perfect Baked Fish:

  • For extra flavor, marinate the fish in lemon juice for 15-20 minutes before baking.
  • Don't overcrowd the baking dish; ensure adequate space between fillets for even cooking.
  • Use panko breadcrumbs for a lighter, crispier topping.
  • Check the fish's doneness by gently flaking it with a fork. It should flake easily when cooked through.
