Instructions

Prepare the Marinade

  • Wash and pat dry the salmon fillets. In a food processor or blender, combine the room temperature butter, minced garlic, sage, thyme, and lemon juice. Blend until a smooth paste forms. Spread the marinade evenly over the salmon fillets and let them marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours in the refrigerator.

Pan-Sear the Salmon

  • Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Carefully place the marinated salmon fillets in the skillet. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.

Make the Sauce

  • Remove the salmon from the skillet and set aside. Add the lemon juice and apple cider vinegar to the skillet and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom. Pour in the fish stock and bring to a simmer, allowing the sauce to slightly reduce and thicken.

Serve

  • Return the salmon to the skillet to coat it in the sauce. Simmer for another 2-3 minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Expert Tips for Perfect Butter Lemon Salmon

  • For even cooking, ensure your salmon fillets are of uniform thickness.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan when pan-searing the salmon; cook in batches if necessary to maintain a good sear.
  • If you prefer a richer sauce, add a tablespoon of heavy cream at the end of the cooking process.
  • Experiment with other fresh herbs like dill or chives for a unique flavor twist.
