Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt.

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the yogurt, oil, powdered sugar, and Eno Fruit Salt. The Eno Fruit Salt will act as a leavening agent, creating air pockets for a softer naan.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gradually add lukewarm water, mixing until a soft, pliable dough forms. Knead the dough for a few minutes until smooth.
  • Cover the dough and let it rest in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size. This allows the gluten to develop and the naan to become light and airy.
  • Divide the dough into small balls. On a lightly floured surface, roll each ball into an oval shape.
  • Brush one side of the rolled-out naan with water and sprinkle with chopped scallions, cilantro, and black sesame seeds.
  • Heat a large skillet or tawa over medium-high heat. Place the naan, topping-side up, in the hot skillet.

  • Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until bubbles start to appear on the surface and the bottom is lightly browned. Flip the naan and cook for another 1-2 minutes on the other side.
  • Brush the cooked naan with melted butter and serve immediately with your favorite Indian dishes.

Expert Tips

  • For extra flavor, brush the naan with garlic butter immediately after cooking.
  • Ensure your oven is preheated to a high temperature for optimal naan texture.
  • If your dough feels sticky, add a little more flour, a tablespoon at a time, until it becomes manageable.

Storage Instructions

  • Store leftover naan in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. For longer storage, freeze in a freezer-safe bag for up to 2 months. Reheat in a warm oven or skillet before serving.
