Ingredients
Chivda Base
- 2 cup Chivda poha chivda (flattened rice)
Dry Fruits & Nuts
Spices & Seasoning
- 4 Chilies dried, red
- 5 leaves Curry Leaves
- 1 tsp Sugar
- 1.5 tsp Salt or to taste
- 1/2 tsp Chili Powder red
- 2 tsp Dry Mango Powder dried mango powder
- 1 tsp Turmeric Powder haldi
- 1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds rai
- 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
Cooking Oil
- 3 tbsp Vegetable Oil plus 1 tsp for toasting chivda
Instructions
Roast the Chivda
- Dry roast the chivda in a large wok over medium heat until lightly browned. Add 1 tsp of oil and stir well. Remove from heat and set aside.
Roast Peanuts and Coconut
- In a separate wok, heat 2 tbsp of oil. Add peanuts and shredded coconut and sauté until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels. Do not fry raisins at this stage.
Prepare the Tempering
- Heat 1 tbsp oil in a clean wok. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds, letting them splutter. Add dried red chilies and curry leaves until fragrant. Stir in turmeric powder, sugar, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
Combine and Finish
- Add the roasted chivda, peanuts, coconut, and raisins to the wok with the tempering. Stir in amchur powder (dried mango powder) and mix thoroughly. Your Khatta Meetha Chivda is ready!
