Instructions
Prepare the Ingredients
- Cut the pitted Medjool dates into small pieces.
- Cut the almonds, cashews, and pistachios into small, roughly uniform pieces.
- Dry roast the almonds, cashews, and pistachios separately in a pan over medium heat until fragrant and slightly crisp. Set aside to cool.

- Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
- Lightly grease your hands with ghee or oil. Shape the mixture into a cylindrical log or into small barfi pieces.
- Roll the burfi in the roasted poppy seeds to coat evenly.
Chill and Serve
- Refrigerate the burfi for at least two hours to firm up.
- Once chilled, cut into bite-sized pieces and serve. Enjoy!
Recipe Notes
Expert Tips for the Perfect Date Burfi
- For a smoother burfi, use a high-quality food processor and ensure the dates are pitted properly.
- Don't over-roast the nuts and seeds; aim for a lightly toasted aroma and crisp texture. Over-roasting can make them bitter.
- If the mixture is too sticky, you can add a tablespoon of powdered sugar to help it firm up.
- For a decorative touch, you can garnish the burfi with extra chopped nuts or silver leaf after it's chilled.
